I recently purchased a Christensen Arms FFT in 270 WSM caliber, resulting in a question and a concern, First the question, how does one remove the muzzle break from the rifle? I use a suppressor rather than a muzzle break so I need to remove it without doing any damage to my new rifle. I have tried a couple of ways to remove the muzzle break without a positive result. It almost seems like lock-tight was used to secure the muzzle break. I'd appreciate insight on how to remove the break without damaging the rifle. It appears I may need to hire a gunsmith to remove the muzzle break resulting in an additional cost to me? Disappointing. Now the concern, I spend nearly $2,000 for one of your rifles and find out that it does not come with a Thread Protector, why? I use a suppressor on my rifle when and where it is legal to do so it appears to me that I will need to purchase the Thread Protector separately at an additional cost to me on top of what I paid for the rifle. I did purchase a thread protector at an additional cost of $39.99 + tax, It seems in reading your reviews here that many customers feel as I do that a Thread Protector should be included with a rifle purchase, especially now as common as persons are using suppressors on their rifles. It would also be nice if the Thread Protector's length matched the threading on the rifle barrel, as on my newly owned FFT well over 1/4 of an inch of the barrel threads are not covered (see photo) by the thread protector. I am not sure if the size of the thread protector is the issue, or if the barrel threading was less than standard. I too have made contact to customer service on my question and concern (s), it has been well over a week since a phone message I left has been unanswered, so I followed up with an email on my question and concern days later with both the question and concern remaining unresolved. I ended up taking my rifle to a gunsmith in order to have the muzzle break removed at an additional cost to me ($40). The gunsmith stated that he has experienced this issue with many Christensen Arms rifles, frustrating both him and his customers. As acknowledged by others Christensen's Customer Service is certainly not timely, which leaves it to be less than desirable. I would hope at some point ownership, management would address this issue as it appears from reading the reviews on here customer are having similar experiences. My rating review is a 3, I love the rifle, disappointed with the muzzle break issue, not including a thread protector with the purchase and with Christensen's customer service / technical support.

Side Baffle Brake vs. Thread Protector

I wanted to know if my Ridgeline FFT shot differently when replacing the Side Baffle Brake with the Thread Protector, comparing two different loads/bullets: 1. Accuracy: 3 shot groups at 100 yards were almost identical with both loads. 2. Velocity: Average velocity was slightly higher with the Thread Protector, but less than 75 fps. 3. Point of Impact: With the Tread Protector, both loads shot about 2 inches higher vs. with the Side Baffle Brake. 4. Felt Recoil was notably higher with the Thread Protector. Conclusion: Re-zero when switching back and forth, then go hunting.
